Imbi Tamm is a simple Estonian girl who likes to imitate voices on the radio. As a child, she has really no way to understand what is going on around her. In the ever-changing political climate – Soviet occupation in 1940, German in 1941, then Soviet again from 1944 onwards – people around her fall like dominoes and vanish from her life. She adapts and suppresses it but a piece of her soul leaves her body with every departure. At least she has her voice until all that is left is an echo of the past.
