After the attempted Communist coup d’état in December 1924, Communists continue their underground action. One of the leaders, Anton Sommer is an intelligent Communist and a man of principle who is arrested and sent to military court. He remains silent in interrogation as he considers it dishonorable to protect himself from accusations. Authorities try to make Sommer plead guilty and admit the revolutionaries’ loss, but for Sommer honour is more important that life. His fellow fighter Ester pays back for him. However, when looking in the eye of Sommer’s wife (as traitor) and the mother of the their children she realizes that nothing will make up the loss of a loved one.
